Weather In San Francisco

Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay, the city of San Francisco dwells at the tip of the peninsula. San Francisco can be said to have Mediterranean climate with cool dry summers and wet winters. The weather of San Francisco changes quickly and is quite unpredictable. The varying topography within the small area of San Francisco also adds up to the unpredictability. The small hills formed by the tectonic movements many years ago, gives directions to the wind within San Francisco, creating diverse weather condition. The eastern side of the city gets sunnier and clear days compared to west, which witness more fog.   Oceans and bay surrounding the city from three directions also adds up to the dynamics of the weather here.  The weather is affected by the ocean currents keeping the weather mild throughout the year.

Spring in San Francisco which prevails between the months of March to May, is sunny, cloudless and dry. During this time, rains are seldom and sky is clear blue. This is a wonderful time to visit San Francisco and <a href=”http://www.wego.com/hotels/united-states/san-francisco?utm_source=articlebase.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=seobacklink&utm_content=us-san-francisco”>hotels in San Francisco</a> remain busy welcoming the hordes of tourists who come in for a holiday. With temperature hardly every falling below 9° Celsius and barely rising above 18° Celsius, the weather remains very favourable for the tourists. The atmospheric pressure builds up in the Pacific Ocean causes continuous sea breeze and the low rainfall makes the place very sought after during this time.

San Francisco summer is quite different summer that the rest of the world. Early mornings are mostly overcast and foggy, while as the day proceeds bright sunshine with cool land breeze take over the day. The afternoons and evenings are characterized with strong wind caused because of the differences in the atmospheric pressure between the Pacific Ocean and the interiors of mainland California. These winds passes through the Golden Gate causing the wind speed to rise up to almost 20 to 30 miles per hour. With temperature seldom crossing 25° Celsius the average temperature remains between 10° Celsius to 21° Celsius from the month of June to August. Summers can be one of the coolest times to visit San Francisco.

Autumn here is between the months from September till November, and is more or less is like the spring season. The weather is dry and comfortably warm and is supposedly the best season of the year for the tourists. It is the transitional period from summer to winter, with rain falling rarely and vanishing fog, magnificent sunrises and sunset. Early autumn are the warmest time in San Francisco. Visitors are advised to books their <a href=”http://www.wego.com/hotels/united-states/san-francisco?utm_source=articlebase.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=seobacklink&utm_content=us-san-francisco”>hotels in San Francisco</a> as early as possible to avail discounts.

If summers are dry in San Francisco, winters are wet. November to February are the winter months. These are the months when San Francisco witnesses the highest amount of rainfall. Almost 75 percent of the annual rainfall occurs in these few months. Fog is denser affecting visibility t. Lots of rain and unpredictable thunder storms are the key characteristics. Days between rains are clear, sunny and crisp making San Francisco look fresh and new.

The Barnes & Noble Review Dick Francis is the only author to win more than once the coveted Edgar Award for Best Novel from the Mystery Writers of America. The three-time winner has recently published his 36th novel, 10 LB. Penalty, and created one of his most interesting and unusual characters to date. Benedict Juliard is an aspiring jockey who must bypass his dreams of horse racing to help his father, George, in his quest to enter the world of politics. At 18, the reserved Benedict is asked by his father to enter into a pact&#58; Neither of the two will do anything that could somehow hinder or destroy George’s blossoming political career. Young Benedict, who has no stronger ambition than to ride steeplechase as an amateur jockey, agrees to the pact, without possibly knowing what lies ahead. Twelve years pass, and Ben has since abandoned his dream of making a career on the racetrack. Like his father, Ben enters the political arena, becoming George Juliard’s closest ally and most trusted confidant as he makes his move to become prime minister. However, Ben suddenly finds himself the target of a fierce attack brought on by his father’s brutally ambitious enemies. Through his son, George Juliard is discredited and destroyed just as he makes his drive for the prime ministership, leading Ben into an existence of treachery and lies. As these events unfold, Ben quickly realizes that it is his responsibility to protect his father’s career as well as his own, but more important, he must protect their lives. Like past Francis books, 10 LB. Penalty is a masterfully plotted mystery thatalsoexamines the power of family and the bond between father and son. It is Francis’s continued excellence in writing that led The San Francisco Chronicle to write, “Francis is steadfast and dependable, someone you can always turn to when in need of a rousing good mystery.”

She is best known for her catastrophic loss in Havana harbor. Maine had been sent to Havana, Cuba to protect U.S. interests during the Cuban revolt against Spain. On the evening of 15 February 1898, she suddenly exploded, and swiftly sank, killing nearly three quarters of her crew. Though then, as now, the cause and responsibility for her sinking were unclear; popular opinion in the U.S. blamed Spain, and the sinking (popularized in the phrase Remember the Maine, to Hell with Spain!) was one of the precipitating events of the SpanishAmerican War. Her sinking remains the subject of speculation, with various authors proposing that she sank due to the results of an undetected fire in one of her coal bunkers, that she was the victim of a naval mine, and that she was deliberately sunk for the purposes of driving the U.S. into a war with Spain. The cause of the explosion that sank the ship remains a mystery. T…

Excerpt&#58; The Treaty of Ciudad Ju&aacute;rez was a peace treaty signed between the then President of Mexico, Porfirio D&iacute;az, and the revolutionary Francisco Madero on May 21, 1911. The treaty put an end to the fighting between forces supporting Madero and those of D&iacute;az and thus concluded the initial phase of the Mexican revolution. The treaty stipulated that D&iacute;az, as well as his vice president Ram&oacute;n Corral, were to step down by the end of May, and that he was to be replaced by Francisco Le&oacute;n de la Barra as interim president until elections could be held. As a result D&iacute;az left Mexico for exile in France. Significantly, the treaty did not mention or institute any social reforms that Madero had vaguely promised on previous occasions. It also left the Porfirian state essentially intact. Additionally, Madero supported the unpopular idea that all land disputes were to be settled through the courts, staffed by the old judges, which led to break outs of sporadic violence, particularly in rural areas. On June 7, 1911, Madero entered Mexico City and in October of 1911 he was elected as president, along with Jos&eacute; Mar&iacute;a Pino Su&aacute;rez, his running mate, as vice-president. The rebellion against the government of Porfirio Diaz broke out in late 1910, after Diaz had his rival Francisco Madero imprisoned and had announced his own victory in a falsified election. Madero’s earlier vague promises of agrarian reforms had attracted many supporters. He himself escaped from prison and fled to San Antonio, Texas, from where he issued his famous Plan of San Luis Potos&iacute;. This manifesto called for a violent overthrow of the Porfiriato and establishment of free and democratic elections. As a response to Madero’s proclamation, armed uprisings began

Jackson forces her readers to use suspension of disbelief and analyze the text in order to understand the full extent of the complex story. Shirley Jackson was born in San Francisco, California in December 1916. She attended the University of Syracuse where she graduated with her BA in English in 1940. After graduating, she married Stanley Edgar Hyman. She died at the age of 49 due to heart failure. Her work mostly consisted of short stories and novels. Her first short story was published in 1941 and was called My Life with R.H. Macy. She continued to write many short stories with the most well known as The Lottery which was published in 1948 and another well known short story was “The Lovely House” published in 1950. “The Lovely House” consists of three main parts. The events took place on the night of May 21, 1979 in San Francisco. Earlier that day, White had been convicted of voluntary manslaughter, the lightest possible conviction for his actions. 20 Lines a Day

20 Lines a Day

$2.95

For a period of just over a year, Harry Mathews set about following Stendhal's dictum for writers of "twenty lines a day, genius or not." What resulted is a book that is part journal, parts writer's manual, and part genius. First undertaken as a kind of discipline, the work molds itself into a penetrating reflection on daily events in Mathews's life, his friends, himself, and the act of writing. "I cannot express the extent of my admiration for Harry Mathews, which is well-nigh evangelical. There are now, here and there, other zephyrs blowing&#151;John Barth, Susan Sontag, Donald Barthelme, Thomas Pynchon&#151;but none so strong as this." (Thomas Disch) "20 Lines a Day might be considered an exercise in constrictive form. . . . Though written in the self-preoccupied, matter-of-fact voice of everyday mulling, it has the irony and symmetry of a parable." (San Francisco Chronicle 8-28-88) "Weighted by sadness, 20 Lines is caliginous, edgy, and worrisome. . . . Mathews frequently is wise, as when he peers inward at the fluttery life of his own mind. Out of the pattern of one's routines comes clues to how life might best be lived." (George Myers, Jr., American Book Review March-April 89) "We all may see moments of ourselves here, as well as many revealing glimpses of Mathews' day-to-day life, but what we can only get a feel for&#151;and . . . get it here as nowhere else&#151;is how a man, living a day like any of us, can generate wild, mysterious fictions in the midst of it all. We are carried beyond telephone, through letter, past thought, to sensibility, all at the easy pace of 20 Lines a Day." (Bill Bamberger, New Pages #14) "Despite the fact that these lines are exercises, they are more than simple jottings. They offer the reflections of genius; they will be read (and reread) for more than one day, for more than one year. They are 'lasting.'" (Irving Malin, Hollins Critic 2-89)

On the thirteenth anniversary of the 9/11 terror attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, America is violently assaulted again. Muslim terrorists appear responsible for a deadly blast in San Francisco. After state police uncover weapons and explosives stored in mosques they gather up Muslims throughout California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Those detainees are eventually expelled into other states and mosques left behind are burned and demolished.Muslims riot and attack police and civilians in Newark, Detroit, Toledo, New York City, and Washington DC. Faced with the realization that Muslim facilities nationwide are being used as the focus points of terrorism, the President of the United States orders the military, Homeland Security, and local police to seize the remaining mosques and to incarcerate or deport all Muslims who are not citizens. When tourist destinations, sporting venues and shopping malls are savagely struck by murderous revolutionaries and Latino separatists seize control of the southwest United States President James Burns orders the nation on Code Red terror alert. The round up of Muslims is expanded to include illegal immigrants, and gangsters with foreign connections. As the country slowly returns to normal another destructive development, the most diabolical, unfolds.

Excerpt&#58; Ansel Easton Adams Ansel Easton Adams (February 20, 1902 April 22, 1984) was an American photographer and environmentalist , best known for his black-and-white photographs of the American West , especially in Yosemite National Park . One of his most famous photographs was Moon and Half Dome, Yosemite National Park, California. With Fred Archer, Adams developed the Zone System as a way to determine proper exposure and adjust the contrast of the final print. The resulting clarity and depth characterized his photographs and the work of those he taught the system. Adams primarily used large-format cameras, despite their size, weight, setup time, and film cost, because their high resolution helped ensure sharpness in his images. Adams founded the Group f/64 along with fellow photographers Edward Weston and Imogen Cunningham , which in turn created the Museum of Modern Art 's department of photography. Adams's timeless and visually stunning photographs are reproduced on calendars, posters, and in books, making his photographs widely recognizable. Life Childhood Adams was born in the Western Addition of San Francisco, California , to distinctly upper-class parents Charles Hitchcock Adams and Olive Bray Adams. He was an only child and was named after his uncle Ansel Easton. The Adams family came from New England, having migrated from the north of Ireland in the early 1700s. His grandfather founded and built a prosperous lumber business, which his father later ran, though his father s natural talents

45 Years 45 Lives

$15.24

How many lives can you live in a single lifetime? Most of us barely manage one. But David James isn’t like most of us. Born in a small English town in Lancashire in the early ’60s, David is a wanderer at heart. Narrated in his own words, 45 Years, 45 Lives is the story of his explorations of his soul as much as of the world around him. Ride pillion with David as his story moves at breakneck speed around the world from Europe to America to Africa, from his teenage to older soul, through his love to heartbreak, friendships to failures. At the book’s opening, we dive headlong into Davids’ life to witness him being abandoned by his father-the event that will alter his life forever. When David meets Brian, everything he has known about himself changes. He depicts with tremendous honesty his issues with his identity and confusion about his sexuality. An impulsive move to San Francisco, the gay capital of the world, brings the sense of freedom David has craved for his whole life. But with the sudden start of the AIDS epidemic, he finds himself at the eye of a storm that he, along with the rest of the world, struggles to understand. Davids’ life is a series of crossroads, and a series of reinventions. First a teenage David Bowie wannabe, then a waiter, a butler, a physiotherapist, Tv presenter ,property developer, and now a writer at the age of 45, David traverses many roles and many lives. Yet, this isn’t just a story about David. This is also the story of his mother, a constant pillar of support throughout his turbulent journey. This is the story of Brian and his capacity for infinite love. This is the story of Ahmed, the illegal Algerian immigrant who bringshope into Davids’ dark life. And this is the story of Colin, the over-the-top gay rights activist whose personal struggles become the inspiration behind this book. Part travelogue, part personal diary, with shades of sexuality, romance, and spirituality, Davids’ story will
