…And Breakfast Too! $15.65 Times were tough. I lost my job because the contract I had been working on ran out of money. Worse, my roommate planned on getting married, another loss of income. What to do? Start a bed and breakfast, suggested my friend. You have a big house, your children have moved out, and you are an excellent hostess. All you have to do is change beds and cook a breakfast. I tried it. Sometimes I had no B&B guests for weeks; other times I could not accommodate the numerous calls for reservations. Most guests were wonderful and appreciated the ample breakfast. And they were gone most of the day to visit the many attractions in southern California, like Disneyland, the closest to my home and the most popular. I loved sharing their experiences. But best of all, changing sheets and preparing breakfast provided me with the extra income needed. Money! |

100 Bullshit Jobs…And How to Get Them $1.99 The scholarly discipline of Bullshit Studies has blossomed in the last several years, fertilized by a number of critical works on the subject and the growing importance of the issue across a wide range of professions. Now, best-selling author and lifelong practitioner Stanley Bing enters the field with a comprehensive look at the many attractive jobs now available to those who are serious about their bullshit and prepared to dedicate their working life to it. What, Bing inquires, do a feng shui consultant, new media executive, wine steward, department store greeter, and Vice President of the United States have in common? What, too, are the actual duties performed by a McKinsey consultant? Other than sitting around making people nervous? Could that possibly be his core function? Likewise, what does an aromatherapist actually do, per se? Sniff things and rub them on people, for big fragrant bucks? Is that all? The answer in all cases is “Yes.” They all have bullshit jobs. These few, of course, are just the beginning. Across the length and breadth of this shrinking globe, skillful bullshit artists have secured pleasant, lucrative employment, and are enjoying themselves more than you are. In virtually every occupation, from Advertising to Yoga Franchising, lucky individuals who “work” in these coveted positions enjoy the best lives imaginable — they are paid well, they rarely break a sweat, and their professions are highly respected, because nobody really knows what they do. At once funny, useful, and tolerably philosophical, this groundbreaking work takes a close look at 100 bullshit jobs — the money they bring with them, the actual tasks and activities involved (if any), and famous and successful examples of each position, who will provide the neophyte with inspiration. Most crucially, Bing goes on to offer what others so far have not–a clear, concise strategy to help job-seekers at every level reach for that brass ring, knowing full well that it |

1862 Disestablishments $14.13 Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher’s book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: The Chatham Theatre or Chatham Street Theatre was a playhouse on the east side of Chatham Street in New York City. It was located between Roosevelt and James streets, a few blocks south of the Bowery. At its opening in 1839, the Chatham was a neighborhood establishment, which featured big-name actors and drama. By the mid-1840s, it had become primarily a venue for blackface minstrel shows. Frank S. Chanfrau restored some of its grandeur in 1848. The playhouse’s most successful period was under the management of A. H. Purdy. He staged productions of Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin beginning in 1852, the success of which prompted him to advertise heavily and to create a special section where African American patrons could sit. Following Purdy’s departure in 1857, the theatre entered its final decline. It flip-flopped many times between a standard melodrama house and a concert saloon before finally being demolished in 1862. Thomas Flynn and Henry Willard financed the construction of the Chatham Theatre in 1839. Under Flynn’s management, the playhouse opened on 11 September 1839 with a production of A New Way to Pay Old Debts starring John R. Scott and Mrs. Thomas Flynn. It was essentially a neighborhood theatre at this time, and the effects of the Panic of 1837 were still being felt, so the establishment lost money. Nevertheless, Flynn and Willard kept it open for another year, staging comedies and dramas that starred popular actors, including James Anderson, William Rufus Blake, Junius Brutus Booth, and Mademoiselle Celeste. The theatre finally closed in January 1840 due to differences between the two owners. Charles R. Thorne bought Willard’s stake and joined Flynn as manager for two weeks in February 1840. Still, the theatre saw li… More: |

30 Years In The Pulps $14.95 “Style, substance and versatility”-Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine30 YEARS IN THE PULPS brings together more than a score of the Shamus-nominated author’s novelettes and short stories from Ellery Queen’s and Alfred Hitchcock’s mystery magazines, including the 2009 International Thriller Writers finalist “Last Island South.” Kirkus Reviews called John C. Boland’s St. Martin’s Press mystery DEATH IN JERUSALEM “a tale that roars along like a BMW in heat.” Other critical comments: .Publishers Weekly on RICH MAN’S BLOOD: “Quite readable, benefitting from lean prose that allows familial warfare to simmer gently beneath the surface. If former Barron’s editor Boland chose to jettison the mystery trappings, his writing style and his subplots packed with characters defined and emotionally disabled by corporate life would stand comparison with Ward Just and other chroniclers of the American businessman…. He excels in rendering epiphanies and, more impressively, in the painstaking creation of a sympathetic character from a dense tangle of inner conflicts.” Kirkus on EASY MONEY: “A wry insider’s view of stock fraud, corporate raiders, genteel brokerage houses, and Wall Street ethics…. Breathtakingly plausible, both in its Wall Street manipulations and in its emotional center. A trenchant, sly first novel-and cerebral fun throughout.” Publishers Weekly on DEATH IN JERUSALEM: “In the brief, passionate [love] affair, [Boland] creates a microcosm of the broader union he sets up between the two wildly different worlds of Wall Street and Israel, both of which he portrays with convincing authenticity.” Philadelphia Inquirer on THE MARGIN: “A brisk, attractive prose style.” Ellery Queen’s on EASY MONEY: “Very much in the Dick Francis tradition.” USA Today on EASY MONEY: “”Great fun . . . Boland’s Wall Street exposes some saints as big sinners.” Baltimore Jewish Times on DEATH IN JERUSALEM: “Propels the reader straight into the world of high |

Big Mama raised Michelle and her four brothers and sisters on a salary that never reached more than $13,000 a year. Yet at her death, Big Mama owned her own home, had paid off a car loan, and had a beautiful collection of Sunday-go-to-meeting church hats and a savings account that supplemented her Social Security check and small pension. Most important, she had taught Michelle “7 Money Mantras for a Richer Life.” Those mantras serve as the inspiration for this straight-talking book of practical personal financial advice that really works. The 7 Money Mantras are:1. 7,000 Clams: A Novel $8.99 Frank Hearn is a down-on-his-luck bootlegger and bruiser looking for the big score in 1920s America. When he loses a shipment of top-quality booze to a double-crossing thief, Frank hunts him down, roughs him up, and finds something that catches his eye. What at first appears to be a scrap of paper is actually a handwritten and unmistakably authentic IOU for $7,000, signed by Babe Ruth. Seven thousand clams is a lot of money—and when Frank gets a tip that the Yankees are about to begin spring training in St. Petersburg, Florida, he wastes no time leaving New Jersey to track down the Babe. Frank thinks he’s covered his bases: Along for the ride is a dangerous and curvy blonde named Ginger DeMore. She’s smart, pistol-packing, and the perfect accomplice to help convince the Babe to cough up the dough. It seems like the perfect plan, but Frank and Ginger aren’t the only ones seeking their fortunes in St. Pete this spring. There are hustlers, gamblers, Yankee fans, and even a sociopath lurking in the booming burg—not to mention a team of gangsters (looking all over town for one curvy dame by the name of Ginger DeMore) sent by a prominent Chicago mobster named Al Capone. In this taut adventure story, filled with colorful characters both real and imagined, Lee Irby takes readers straight into the authentic heart of the Roaring ’20s, bringing to life all the sizzling style—from the slang and the fashions to the smell of bathtub gin. Worthy of a place at Elmore Leonard’s table, 7,000 CLAMS is an enormously entertaining tale and a superb fiction debut. |

A Death in the Hamptons $1 It’s getting hot in New York, and the chic, elite, and well-to-do are headed out to their favorite summer stomping ground. On the surface the Hamptons are a paradise of giant houses, tennis courts, and chauffeured Mercedes. In reality, they hide secrets that are neither glamorous nor civilized. Everyone’s dying to see what new scandals this summer will bring. But this year, it’s not a Wall Street tycoon who starts the scandal papers rolling. It’s a local fisherman, Andrew Kane, who has the unfortunate luck to reel in the headless body of a second-rate actor along with his morning catch. Andrew, for one, doesn’t care. He’s got other things on his mind: a recent divorce, mounting debts, and now, with the influx of summer people, bumper-to-bumper traffic and crowds of beautiful, rich women who wouldn’t give him the time of day if he asked for it. But when Andrew meets Jack Hawker—a larger-than-life action hero and movie mogul—everything changes. Jack is playing a fisherman in his latest feature film, and he lures naive bayman Andrew into showing him the ropes. In a flash, Andrew is swept away from the daily grind and into a world of drugs and booze, actors and actresses, and plenty of money. When Jack lands Andrew a plum role in a film, Andrew finds himself leading the kind of life he’s only dreamed about. Yet as the summer days get hotter and Andrew gets drawn farther and farther into an inferno of vicious gossip, sexual intrigue, and financial philandering, he begins to wonder just how dark the hidden truth about the Hamptons can be. In the tradition of Tom Wolfe and Dominick Dunne, Matt Bloom paints a devastating portrait of the dark underside of the civilized, glamorous Hamptons—the favorite playground of New York’s glitterati—where the houses are as big as the egos and you can cut the gossip with a knife. Author Biography: Matt Bloom is a native New Yorker. He has worked as a bartender in Manhattan and the Hamptons, a |

A Hundred Small Steps: Report of the Committee on Financial Sector Reforms $16.54 While previous reports have focused solely on the ‘big’ issues like capital account convertibility, bank privatization, and priority sector norms, A Hundred Small Steps: Report of the Committee on Financial Sector Reforms goes deep into other areas where reforms are less controversial, but perhaps as important. The report argues that we need a change in mindset for the financial sector, one that recognizes that efficiency, innovation, and value for money are as important for the poor as they are for our new Indian multinationals, and these will come from improved governance, new entry and competition. Indeed the Committee believes that the road to making Mumbai an international financial center runs through every village in India. The report is divided into separate self-contained chapters; the underlying theme behind all the proposals is the need to enhance inclusion, growth, and stability by allowing players more freedom, even while strengthening the financial and regulatory infrastructure. The role of the government is to create an enabling environment by building sound financial infrastructure. The Committee has focused primarily on broad principles and directions, without entering too much into details of implementation. It emphasizes three important reasons for financial sector reform: to include more Indians in the growth process; to foster growth itself; and to improve financial stability, flexibility, and resilience, and thus protect the economy against the kind of turbulence that is affecting the world today. The Committee recognizes this is a difficult time to propose financial sector reforms in India. The near meltdown of the US financial sector seems to be proof that markets and competition do not work. This is clearly the wrong lesson to take from the debacle. The right lesson is that markets and institutions do succumb occasionally to excesses, which is why regulators have to be vigilant. The report argues for skilled |

A Journey In The Seaboard Slave States, With Remarks On Their Economy (1861) $22.72 Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos.Excerpt from book:tics were more clearly marked in each than they often are in any at the North. In their dress, language, manner, motions—all were distinguishable almost as much by their color, from the white people who were distributed among them, and engaged in the same occupations—chiefly selling poultry, vegetables, and small country-produce. The white men were, generally, a mean looking people, and but meanly dressed, but differently so from the negroes. Most of the produce was in small, rickety carts, drawn by the smallest, ugliest, leanest lot of oxen and horses that I ever saw. There was but one pair of horses in over a hundred that were tolerably good—a remarkable proportion of them were maimed in some way. As for the oxen, I do not believe New England and New York together could produce a single yoke so poor as the best of them. The very trifling quantity of articles brought in and exposed for sale by most of the market-people was noticeable; a peck of potatoes, three bunches of carrots, two cabbages, six eggs aid a chicken, would be about the average stock in trade of a’: the dealers. Mr. F. said that an old negro woman once came to his door with a single large turkey, which she pressed him to buy. Struck with her fatigued appearance, he made some inquiries of her, and ascertained that she had been several days coming from home, had traveled mainly on foot, and had brought the turkey and nothing else with her. – Ole massa had to raise some money somehow, and he could not sellanyting else, so he tole me to catch the big gobbler, and tote um down to Washington and see wot um would fotch.” The prices of garden productions were high, compared even with New York. All the necessaries of life are very expensive inWashington; great complaint is made of exorbitant |

A Papuan Plutocracy: Ranked Exchange on Rossel Island $49.95 This book of classic scope is a monograph on a Melanesian society, an exploration of ranked exchange and a bold critique of anthropological exchange theory. John Liep unravels the complex society and exchange system on Rossel Island east of New Guinea. At centre stage is the famous ‘Rossel Island money’, a hierarchy of more than twenty classes of sea shells displayed in payment rituals such as bridewealth and pig feasts. High-ranking shells are monopolized by big men who control exchange and dominate social life on the island. Theories of reciprocity and gift exchange with their built-in utopian assumption of social equality, Liep finds, cannot account for a system of ranked exchange. Instead, exchange is unequal and money an instrument of distinction and power. Liep argues that ranked exchange has remained undiscovered as a general phenomenon. Still found in some Pacific societies it was formerly widespread in Oceania and beyond. The book will be essential to students of indigenous currencies and exchange theory and of interest to economic anthropologists and Oceanists. |

A Piggly Wiggly Wedding $24.95 The enchanting follow-up to Waltzing at the Piggly Wiggly and Kissing Babies at the Piggly Wiggly—a Southern charmer about second chances in love and life, and the odd—and oddly funny—events that bring people together.Weddings are big news in the small Delta town of Second Creek, Mississippi. Especially when the wedding is that of the town’s new mayor: the seventy-one-year-young Hale “Mr. Choppy” Dunbar, about to tie the knot with Gaylie Lyons, to whom he’d first lost his heart back in the 1940s. Hale, of course, used to be a butcher and proprietor of Second Creek’s Piggly Wiggly supermarket, which closed its doors a few years back, but not until after hosting the wedding of Laurie Lepanto and her ballroom-dancing husband, Powell Hampton.Unfortunately, Hale and Gaylie’s wedding plans are not going smoothly. Gaylie’s grown children, both spoiled by their late father’s money, are determined to second-guess their mother’s move to this small Southern town—no matter how lovely the neighbors or pretty the scenery. It falls to the town’s indefatigable army of matrons—the Nitwitts—to plan the kind of welcome for Gaylie’s children that will get them on board for the wedding, and make way for more than one new beginning in Second Creek. |

A Place of Yes: 10 Rules for Getting Everything You Want Out of Life $23.95 The New York Times bestselling author of Naturally Thin and The Skinnygirl Dish, Bethenny Frankel takes us on an empowering journey to A PLACE OF YES BETHENNY FRANKEL’S no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is personality won over countless fans, and made her a nationally bestselling author and the star of her own hit Bravo show Bethenny Ever After. Now Bethenny opens up and shares the obstacles she overcame and the great success she has enjoyed while discovering how to approach life from “A Place of Yes.” Bethenny’s path was not always clear as she overcame a difficult childhood, failed relationships, entrepreneurial efforts that never quite got off the ground, and lifelong money struggles. To deal with these challenges, Bethenny developed ten rules for pursuing her goals with authenticity and drive, including: FIND YOUR TRUTH: Dig deep inside and figure out what is authentic for you, not anybody else. ACT ON IT: You don’t have to have a master plan. But unless you do something, you’ve done nothing. EVERYTHING’S YOUR BUSINESS: Treat every job, person, and experience as if it could lead to your next big opportunity. OWN IT: If you do it, say it, think it—then own it. Stand up for yourself and fully acknowledge who you really are. Each rule is illustrated with compelling, sometimes funny, sometimes outrageous examples that are pure Bethenny. It’s easy to say no, to say “I can’t,” to expect the worst, and to doubt yourself. But your life can be better than “not bad” or “good enough.” It can be amazing. And by putting Bethenny’s rules together, you can use them to be more successful, more fulfilled, healthier, and happier than ever before. |

ALOHA: Another World $15.47 “What, Where, and How Much” were the key concerns of the author’s life for the seventeen exciting years that he lived in the Far East. The best I have seen which deals with the news item side of it as well as the science. He has done a very thorough job and I have no hesitation in unreserved commendation.” – Dr Vincent Gray, UN IPCC expert reviewer”Wishart delves into the science and statistics of anthropogenic climate change, only to discover the not-so-hidden agenda underlying the global warming scare. Air Con is a thorough summary of the current state of the debate, the science and the politics; it will be an important reference in any AGW skeptic’s arsenal.” – Vox Day, columnist, |

Albacora, The Search For The Giant Broadbill $11.94 FOREWORD The sport of big-game fishing holds a dangerous fascination that has only one parallel elsewhere in life. Getting involved in it is like falling into the clutches of a jealous lover. From the day the involvement starts, your time, your thoughts, your energy and your money must all be dedicated to a single consuming cause. Once I devoted years to mastering techniques in painting and sculpture. Today I am a painter who does not paint and a sculptor who does not sculpt. I fish. Its terrible, insist my friends, and even my mother. From the walls where they hang, the characters in my pictures seem to point accusing fingers at me. But I am very happy. My husband, Lou, and I have found a way to follow our first love, the sea, not idly or wastefully, but for a purpose. Together we fish for science. After a lifetime of hard work in the oil business, Lou became financially independent some years ago. But his final achievement of business success left him with neither an aim nor an outlet for his creative urge. Scientific studies of the great fish have helped satisfy both needs. Fish safaris probably sound glamorous, but there is a good deal more to them than sheer romance. Ever since our first expedition, nearly everyone I meet has greeted me with the same opening line Oh, what a glamorous and exciting life you must lead. On your next trip couldnt you find room for a hairdresser Or a doctor or a lawyer or a gin rummy partner, or whatever else the questioner thinks he does best. I have a standard answer. I say, Glamour, no. Excite- ment, yes. Sorry, I cant use you. But that first question is only a teaser. The tough ones follow fast. The book shows how the superrich succeed, how fortunes are made in various industries, and how, once made, they are saved, enhanced, and sometimes squandered. From Wall Street to the West Coast, from blue-collar billionaires to blue-blood fortunes, from the Google guys to hedge fund honchos, All the Money in the World gives us the lowdown on, among other things: the all-time richest Americans, who made and lost the most money in the past twenty-five years, the fields and industries that have produced the greatest wealth, the biggest risk takers, the most competitive players, the most wasteful family feuds, the trophy wives, the most conspicuous consumers, the biggest art collectors, the most and least generous philanthropists.Produced in collaboration with Forbes magazine, All the Money in the World is a vastly entertaining, behind-the-scenes look at today’s Big Rich, a subject of enduring fascination to all Americans. |

Amazon.com: Get Big Fast $0.99 In Amazon.com Jeff Bezos built something the world had never seen. He created the most recognized brand name on the Internet and became one of the richest men in the world. Amped: How Big Air, Big Dollars, and a New Generation Took Sports to the Extreme $0.99 Meet the alternative American sports-skateboarding, snowboarding, BMX biking, and motocross-and the lifestyle, history, music, and million-dollar industry behind them. Once a fringe underground culture, extreme sports are now the stuff of car commercials and Olympic competitions. How did they get there-and how does it feel to be in the middle of it all? The first comprehensive account of the rise, culture, and business of action sports, Amped plunges readers into the world of snowboarders, skateboarders, stunt bicyclists, and motorcycle riders. Readers will find themselves aboard a skateboarding bus tour with superstar Tony Hawk, behind the scenes at the X Games and snowboarding contests, at the sidelines witnessing the first-ever double backflip on a motorcycle, on the road with the Warped Tour, and in the offices of multinational corporations that have tapped into the vast amounts of money to be made from those who participate in and watch these nontraditional sports. Based on interviews with more than one hundred athletes, pioneers, personalities, managers, business executives, extreme-rock musicians, and, most importantly, the adolescent amateurs who are the heart of this movement, Amped is not merely the story of an alternative world of sports now four decades old. It’s the tale of a vast and flourishing culture that continues to reject old-fashioned stick-and-ball sports in favor of an individualistic form of expression. The story of extreme sports speaks volumes about Generations X and Y and their divergent views on life, creativity, gratification, and identity. |

Analyzing Monsters – Family Cures $9.99 This book is not all about Drew Peterson. I wanted to write a book that would be an answer the question “What five books in your family library do you wish to pass on to your children and grandchildren?” Hopefully someday I will write one. In this book I will exhibit tough love and play Devil’s advocate with many monsters and monstrous events. I will present my findings and analysis of all that may threaten you and your family. As a cure for families we recommend that all of us move beyond the monstrous ego and money-oriented selfishness of “Modern Medicine,” “Modern Banking,” “Modern Justice,” “Modern King Government,” and “Modern Me.” I advocate we thread old-fashioned family values into the solutions and cures of new Smart Systems?. Our “modern” institutions need serious rehab in order to assist, not just one but, all members of today’s family with respect care and love. Today’s technology confirms our corporate motto: WE ARE ALL ONE BIG FAMILY – ENJOY IT! We have called for an annual international week of Sobriety and Serenity each January 5th through the 12th as a small pathway to change and a way to remember and heal families in pain. Army Boys In France $17.31 Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos.Excerpt from book:CHAPTER III THE GATHERING STORM Events moved on swiftly for the next few days. History was being made at a more rapid rate than ever before. War was in the air and everybody felt it. “Something’s got to break mighty soon, Bart,” remarked Frank, as he met his friend one morning. “Can’t come too soon for me,” said Bart. “Ever since we broke off diplomatic relations I’ve known there could be but one end to it. That’s never been done yet without a country finally going to war.” “And it won’t this time either,” agreed Frank. “The fact is, I’d be almost sorry if it did. I’m getting so sore at the way the Germans are trying to ride rough shod over the world that I’m anxious to get a whack at them.” “I, too,” declared Bart. “The cool way in which they offered part of the United States to Mexico has got me so riled that I can’t think of anything else but getting even. And you notice how, in spite of all warning, they keep on sinking American ships! They figure that .we’re just bluffing. Their newspapers keep telling them that we’re only a nation of shopkeepers who think of nothing but the almighty dollar and that we’re making so much money out of the war in selling munitions to the Allies we’ll take good care not to get into it ourselves.” “They’re just about due to wake up out of their dream,” said Frank, grimly. “They make a big mistake when they think our patience is cowardice, or greed for money. As a matter of fact, there isn’t a nation in the world so unselfish as America. Look at the way we wentinto the Spanish war—just pure humanity, to save Cuba from the horrors she was undergoing at the hands of that butcher, Weyler. And see how quickly we gave Cuba her independence as soon as the war was over and she was ready for it. There isn’t another nation in the world |

Arguably the most successful Australian in major league history, he was an All-Star in 1999, and ended his Major League career on 3 October, 1999 with 837 games played, 789 hits, 105 home runs and a .284 career batting average. Nilsson became a free agent in the offseason following that year, but opted not to sign with any MLB teams because of his desire to play for Australia in the 2000 Olympics. He was widely applauded for this move as he was turning down big money to represent his country, something very rarely seen in baseball. Before leaving the US, he had been Australia’s second highest earning sportsman behind Greg Norman, according to the Business Review Weekly. Before this time, he played for the Brisbane Bandits and Melbourne Reds in the now-defunct Australian Baseball League where he holds the record for all time batting average (.351) and all time slugging average (.661). His brothers Gary, Bob and Ron also played in the competition. He also played in the Japanese NPB and Italian Serie A. He went on to also represent Australia in the 2004 Olympics where they won a historic silver medal, and also represented his country in the inaugural World Baseball Classic in 2006. He is currently head coach of the Australian MLB Academy. Nilsson represented Australia at the Olympics in 2000 and 2004, and has been involved in the strategic direction of the sport in Australia. Avoiding Temptation $1.99 In this excerpt from his acclaimed book Taming The Lion, highly successful trader, investor and former hedge fund manager, Richard Farleigh, reveals some of the secret investment strategies that he developed to succeed in the markets:”I believe that really good investors can avoid temptation. They have the discipline to know when there are no genuine opportunities and to not take excessive risks. In these situations, it may be useful to keep an eye on a variety of markets and to see if any price trends develop. These may signal when something is happening which is worth investigating. In these quiet times, be careful because even just wealth preservation is not simple because of taxes and inflation. Sophisticated retail products may appear good on the surface, but require close scrutiny. With a passive portfolio, management and brokerage fees should be kept to a minimum.”Praise for Farleigh’s acclaimed book, Taming the Lion:”Anyone who was able to retire at the age of 34, move to Monte Carlo and become a private investor must have made some smart investment decisions. Richard Farleigh did just that and he’s sharing his secrets in this book.” Money Magazine”Taming the Lion is a book about profiting from big themes. From humble beginnings in Australia, Farleigh made a fortune following powerful trends, the most effective and least stressful route to investment success. He knows how to write too.” Telegraph”Overall I feel there is so much information in this book, it is probably one I will keep re-reading as I make investment decisions. I especially like the way it has reminded me that there are other asset classes to invest in other than shares and property and yet the same strategies are applicable”. Investors Voice |

Az Goes Artful $6.95 Raymond Chandler called it The Simple Art of Murder, a misleading title. It never has been simple to write mysteries. Where better to place a mystery?Follow the money! the history! the story! Authors Nevada Barr, Roy Berkeley, Philip R. Craig, Aaron Elkins, Nicholas Kilmer, Sharyn McCrumb, Keith Miles, and Elizabeth Peters do just that into worlds given their own unique spin: uncharted treasures of our national parks; highlights of a spy’s London; the timeless world of an island paradise; masterpieces of Europe’s great museums; the dark world of art dealers; the glories of Celtic homelands and Appalachian mountains; the Arizona desert transformed by the skills of Frank Lloyd Wright; ancient Egyptian tombs explored by an archaeologist who takes to crime….Bookseller Barbara Peters adds her memoirs of a trip to modern China. And a bonus! Bald Lubavitcher $9.99 Beware the Eyes of Stink!Author Takes on Oddly Enchanting World of Horror in Newest Screenplay NEW YORK – Stink Eyes. It is a look of incredible hatred, a look that – if intense enough, if long enough, if delivered by a person who truly hates – can result in a curse. And it is the look given to Rolando Karputchnick by his soon-to-be ex-wife, Neptune, as she lays dying in the street after a hit-and-run. Lawrence J. Corneck has done it again, shocking and satisfying readers with his eccentric, outlandish characters and trademark brand of sinister humor in his dark new screenplay, Bald Lubavitcher (published by AuthorHouse). A companion to Corneck’s previous books, Bald Lubavitcher follows the outlandish and arrogant Rolando from Geezer Pleaser (published by AuthorHouse), who, in typical Rolando fashion, doesn’t seem too upset about his wife’s sudden expiration. His only cause for concern? Neptune’s departing serving of Stink Eyes. As Neptune fades out of his life, a Movie Buff walks in. “Not an ordinary Movie Buff,” writes Corneck. “But a Movie Buff from Hell, a Movie Buff who assumes the persona of Major Characters in Movies and then proceeds, if one is a believer in the Occult (and dare one not be), to enforce Neptune’s Curse.” Rolando sues the Movie Buff, an ex-con who owes him money, and the two hot-headed men get caught up in an obsessive and unusual rivalry that involves company takeovers, a mind-altering painting, mystery and, of course, murder. The Movie Buff’s last big role? A big surprise. Born and raised in New York, Corneck continues to love living in the Big Apple. He is also the author of Existential Hell: A Screenplay Trilogy, Big Cigar, small d**k, FAT FAT Snitch and Geezer Pleaser (all published by AuthorHouse), companions to Bald Lubavitcher. More screenplays based upon earlier characters, including Mime’s the Word, Bubble Catcher, Asphalt Bungle and Bitch Fight at the KO Corral, will soon be available through AuthorHouse. According to Corneck, each |
