Stink bugs have started to become a large problem in North America recently.  It seems as if nothing is able to stop the stink bugs from infesting gardens and crops, but the bigger issue is when stink bugs invade people’s homes.  This short article will go over what you need to know to determine if and where stink bugs are entering your home so You Can better prevent the stink bugs from affecting your home life.

First off, stink bugs are not normally interested in invading people’s homes, but when it gets cold and dark outside they seek both light and warmth.  Unfortunately people’s homes provide both light and warmth for the stink bugs so they first see the light and the closer they get they realize the warmth is coming from your house and try to get inside.

Stink bugs are fairly small insects and can fit in a variety of small places and cracks.  But the most frequent areas a stink bug will enter your home is in between windows, doors, and inside your garage.  Of course, stink bugs also can be inside your house and you don’t even know it yet.  Attics provide the warmth perfect for stink bugs, plus they are fairly easy for the stink buts to enter because most attics are vented towards the outside.  Stink bugs may also enter through your dryer vents which lead outside your house and exhaust warm air from your dryer.

So if you are trying to get rid of stink bugs or if you are simply trying to help limit the stink bug population within your home there are a few things you can do to help.  First off, you can start by turning off all of the lights that may be outside your house.  This will help stop attracting the stink bugs to your house.  Secondly you can go around your house and makes sure that all small cracks are filled in.  You can use great foam or wire mesh to help do this.  Eventually if you keep on doing these things your stink bug problem will quickly end.
